Press Release Summary = Canadian ex-heavyweight champion \"comes out\" on illiteracy challenge and reveals how he won the bout and went on to become a kids book writer by releasing his first book entitled the \"Little Red Circle\".
Press Release Body = Ben Perlini has turned a page in his storied life. The former heavyweight champ has survived a grade school illiteracy dead end to go on become a kids book auteur. "If I could overcome my illiteracy and the sense of worthlessness that came with it, I would like to share that struggle with other text-challenged young people".
Ben knows how to overcome limitations- he won the Canadian heavyweight crown undersized and under-financed. On the heels of releasing a fitness book and prior to releasing his first kids book entitled "The Little Red Circle", Perlini decided in early March to "come out" on his illiteracy. "It always ate at me to feel less than capable so I turned to boxing to get back my self-worth".
Ultimately illiteracy came back to haunt him. He couldn't hang on to the success that he earned in the ring due to an embarrassing secret. The frustration eventually led to dead end streets in some dark corners of Vancouver.
Perlini has put it all behind him and has vowed to trade a dream for a new one. Ben is selling his coveted championship belt and other boxing memorabilia to raise cash for an ongoing motivational speaking tour across Canada.
His plan is to promote his 3 steps of success: 1) Stay in school 2) say no to drugs 3) follow your dreams.
He says he will back up his new title as writer and motivational speaker with facts. He was able to rise to the top spot of boxing in Canada and has now parlayed that same sheer determination knocking out illiteracy from his life. "I've put the final touches on my first kid's book and have many other books in the wings". On the CityTV's
March 01, 2007 Breakfast edition with Simi Sara he claimed to have 70 books in various levels of preparedness.
Once he raises enough money with the sale of his title belt through the Web site FighterToWriter.com, he'll hit the road with a message that hits home.
